Will Ferrell has joined the toy train to star opposite Margot Robbie in the upcoming ‘Barbie’ movie at Warner Bros.
Ferrell joins a cast that includes Kate McKinnon, Ryan Gosling will play the role of Ken, Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp to Emma Mackey and America Ferrera.
Greta Gerwig will direct the feature. Co-written by Gerwig and Marriage Story’s Noah Baumbach, plot details are currently under wraps but sources indicate that there is a meta aspect to the proceedings. Ferrell is said to be playing the CEO of a toy company that may or not be Mattel.

Robbie also serves as a producer on the movie under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner, which produced last year’s ‘Promising Young Woman.’ Other Producers also include LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara; Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and Ynon Kreiz; and David Heyman.
Ferrell was last seen in 2020’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,’ made by Netflix. He recently appeared in Apple TV’s black comedy The Shrink Next Door with Paul Rudd.
