With its US release right around the corner, and a record-breaking debut this past weekend in many international territories – including the UK, taking a phenomenal four-day haul of £15.8.m – we’re heading into the final days of The Avengers’ promotional campaign before it’s unleashed on the big screen across the Atlantic.

In part of their increasing interest in developing original material, Yahoo Movies have released a new video of Joss Whedon giving a commentary of a fight sequence from the film, before it’s released in the US this weekend.

Whedon is directing from his own script, based on a story by himself and Zak Penn, with all of our favourite superheroes and characters returning for an epic assembly, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr., with Paul Bettany returning as JARVIS), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, taking over from Edward Norton), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Alas, I remain in the dark about the film, because I haven’t yet had a chance to see it – I was at Sundance London this weekend though, so naturally all was far from lost. But I know that I’m going to love it, and can’t wait to see everyone coming together for what will quite possibly be Marvel’s finest film yet.

The Avengers will be released in the US on 4th May, and is currently already available for viewing in your local cinema if you’re reading this in UK (under the name ‘Avengers Assemble’). If you haven’t yet seen it, here’s the new video to whet your appetite. And to catch all our coverage of the film so far, you can click here.
