The-Lone-Ranger-PosterGore Verbinski reunites with Johnny Depp and Disney this summer to bring us the anticipated blockbuster, The Lone Ranger.

Having worked together on the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and then again on the Oscar-winning Rango, Verbinski and Depp have clearly developed a strong working relationship. And there’s every reason to expect their next tentpole movie to be a big hit this summer.

With less than three months to go before the film hits US theatres, the new full-length trailer has now been released, following a live Q&A with Verbinski, Depp, Armie Hammer, and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Armie Hammer takes the titular lead as John Reid / The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp starring opposite him as Tonto. And the two are joined by a terrific ensemble, led by Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Ruth Wilson.

Verbinski is directing from a script written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four of the Pirates films, and Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).

Disney have already released the highest-grossing film of the year so far – Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful. We’re expecting Oz’s figures to be topped by Iron Man 3 in the coming weeks, which is also a Disney release, through Marvel. And with The Lone Ranger looking good ahead of its summer release, the studio are set to continue a very big year at the box office.

The Lone Ranger will be released on July 3rd in the US, arriving in time for the Independence Day weekend across the Atlantic. Its UK release date is set for a little later on 9th August, by which time, we’ll no doubt be seeing ‘The #1 US Movie’ added to the posters on our shores. Whilst we await its arrival, here’s the latest trailer to get you in the mood.
