Lionsgate UK has unveiled the official trailer for ‘The Debut,’ an upcoming musical comedy written and directed by Academy Award nominee and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Jesse Eisenberg.
Following the success of his acclaimed directorial projects, Eisenberg returns behind the camera for a charming and emotionally rich story set within the world of community theatre. ‘The Debut’ features an impressive ensemble cast led by Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy, and Bernadette Peters.
The story follows a shy and reserved woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when she is cast in a local production of an original musical. As rehearsals intensify, she falls under the influence of the show’s strong-willed and enigmatic director.
In addition to writing and directing the film, Eisenberg penned the original songs featured throughout ‘The Debut.’ The music was developed in collaboration with acclaimed music supervisor Steven Gizicki, whose previous credits include ‘A Complete Unknown.’
