The new film from Anchorman director Adam McKay is a far cry from the broad comedy he is known for, and for many the events of The Big Short are anything but a joke.

Telling the story of men who made money from the recent global economic toilet-bowling, McKay has assembled one of the finest casts of the year with Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell making up the main cast. Karen Gillan, Rafe Spall and Selena Gomez are other big names on show.

If you haven’t seen J. C. Chandor’s thrilling Margin Call it’s a gripping examination of the tipping point of the financial crisis, McKay’s film, based on the book by Michael Lewis, widens the scope to the warning signs, and those who profited off of the collapse.

The film is out in the UK on the 22nd of January 2016, here’s the trailer,
