Following their impressive success with Senna and the Oscar-winner Amy, James Gay-Rees and Asif Kapadia are bringing Mat Whitecross’s latest love song to modern music to the big screen with the release of Supersonic.

Taming the beast of Oasis’s almost mythic rise and fall in the 90s and beyond is no easy feat. Their legends are so ingrained in the culture, their successes so well known, their private lives so public, that there needs to be something special here to entertain the legion of fans.

Whitecross’s previous work, notably Spike Island and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, make him the perfect fit to contextualise and recreate the enormous hype and the cultural supernova that Oasis became. This new trailer gives an insight into how the team intend to do just that.

Synopsis? Why, you only need ask…

Featuring extensive unseen archive, SUPERSONIC charts the meteoric rise of Oasis from the council estates of Manchester to some of the biggest concerts of all time in just 3 short years. This palpable, raw and moving film shines a light on one of the most genre and generation-defining British bands that has ever existed.

Out in UK and Irish cinemas on the 2nd of October, the theatrical release is kicked off with a live satellite event on that date.
