Lucasfilm has announced that the Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy ‘Star Wars’ movie is set to be titled ‘Star Wars: Streetfighter.’
Gosling is set to lead the cast in the latest instalment, with Levy set to direct.
The film is looking at an autumn production start, and Disney has set a theatrical release date of May 28, 2027.
After much speculation on Gosling and Levy’s attachment to a ‘Star Wars’ project, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni officially unveiled plans for ‘Starfighter’ on Friday morning at the banner’s annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo.

Jonathan Tropper has written the screenplay for the film. Tropper has previously worked with Levy and penned prior features for him that include ‘The Adam Project’ and ‘This Is Where I Leave You.’ Tropper is also the creator of the Apple TV+ series ‘Your Friends & Neighbors.’
This marks Levy’s directorial follow-up to Marvel Studios’ megasmash buddy comedy ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which brought in the highest-grossing R-rated feature of all time. Gosling was last seen in the action-heavy romcom ‘The Fall Guy,’ released in May 2024.
