xXx: Return of Xander Cage and The Meg star, Ruby Rose has landed herself the role of Batwoman in the potential new The CW TV series.
Before the series is greenlit, Rose will star in the role in the crossover event which is planned for December. The crossover will include Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. There will then be a pilot episode of Batwoman for The CW, so the series fate will depend on the outcome of those.
Producer Greg Berlanti is currently developing. Caroline Dries has written the pilot which has Rose playing Kate Kane, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence and must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
Dries will also executive produce alongside Berlanti, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.

In the comic books Batwoman she is a wealthy heiress who becomes inspired by the superhero Batman and chooses, like him, to put her wealth and resources towards a campaign to fight crime as a masked vigilante in her home of Gotham City. The identity of Batwoman is shared by two heroines in mainstream DC publications; both women are named Katherine Kane, with the original Batwoman commonly referred to by her nickname Kathy and the modern incarnation going by the name Kate.
Rose has made a name for herself on the big screen in the action movie genre. Her catalogue so far includes Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2 and this week appears alongside Jason Statham in the sharktastic, The Meg. A break from the norm saw her also star on Pitch Perfect 3.
