Warner Bros and DC Films have given the green light for development to begin on a new Supergirl movie.

Superman’s cousin has previously made it to the big screen back in 1984. The film was directed by Jeannot Szwarc and written by David Odell and focused on Kara of Argo City who poses as Clark Kent’s cousin, Linda Lee. Kara has to recover the Omegahedron from an evil Terran sorceress. The movie didn’t quite have the same impact as Christopher Reeves big hitting Superman.  Helen Slater as Supergirl, along with Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow, and Peter O’Toole, with Marc McClure reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen from the Superman films.e only appointed the Cloverfield paradox writer Oren Uziel with the task of writing the script. No other details have been made available.

Currently, Supergirl has her own series via The CW. The series follows Kara aka Supergirl as a young woman but the story plot line reads; At 12 years old, Kara Zor-El escapes doom on planet Krypton to find protection on Earth with the Danver family, where she grows up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learns to hide the extraordinary powers she shares with her cousin, Superman. Now an adult living in National City and working for media mogul Cat Grant, Kara finds her days of keeping her abilities a secret are over when super-secret agency head Hank Henshaw enlists her to help protect the city’s citizens from threats. Finally coming into her own, Kara must juggle her new responsibilities with her very human relationships.
