Hitting theatres this summer, RED 2 promises to be every bit the action blockbuster sequel movie we want it to be. Robert Schwentke’s original 2010 film was so much fun, and we can’t wait to see the gang back together for round two.
Last month saw the debut of the rather awesome first teaser trailer and poster, and now Yahoo Movies have released another brilliant teaser. And with it comes a great tagline. The Best Never Rest.
“In RED 2, the high-octane action-comedy sequel to the worldwide sleeper hit, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world-and stay alive in the process.”
Bruce Willis is naturally reprising his role alongside the excellent Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Brian Cox. And Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Lee Byung-hun, Neal McDonagh, and David Thewlis complete the cast nicely for the sequel’s new line-up.
Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) is taking over at the helm, with brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber penning the script once more.
RED 2 will be released on 2nd August in the UK and US, and that’s definitely a date you’ll want to commit to memory. This could be some of the most fun you’ll have in a cinema this year. Here’s the great new teaser poster, which you can click through to enlarge, to get you in the mood.
