We have already seen one trailer for Luc Besson’s The Lady which tells the true story of the life and struggle of Burmese politician Aung San Suu Kyi and now we have a full trailer for the highly anticipated film.

It has always been when Besson explores new avenues in filmmaking beyond the lithe female assassin model that he produces some of his best work and what we’ve seen so far points to this trend continuing.

Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis lead the film which premiered at Toronto last month, and while I can’t find details of the UK release there’s not a huge chance that it won’t find a distributor here. Yeoh and Thewlis are more than capable of making the most of the emotional journey as the marriage is strained by the huge sacrifices made and if Besson has got the balance between the personal and the national struggles then this could be something special.

Here’s your trailer…

The Yahoos had this one.
