We still know very little about X-Men: Apocalypse (though who will be playing Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm HAS been revealed), and Patrick Stewart has now dropped one very interesting detail about the 2016 movie.

While the legendary British actor says he still believes that it’s “very unlikely” we’ll see his Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: Apocalypse, he did reveal that “Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it.” That’s quite an unexpected surprise, especially as it was believed that the sequel would focus solely on the ’80s.

That’s not the only big reveal that Stewart made either. A sequel to The Wolverine will be released in 2017, and while it’s currently unknown when in Wolverine’s life it will be set, we may now have a better idea.

“And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together,” he revealed. “Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.” It certainly would, and this appears to be confirmation that the sequel will take place in the new timeline glimpsed in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

That could effectively make The Wolverine 2 the equivalent of X-Men 4, especially if it features more of the original cast members from that trilogy. It’s going to be very interesting to see all of this come together…
