I have no idea if this poster is genuine, though the cynical side of me says it is, and that the way to sell a film like The King’s Speech is to assault Colin Firth’s face with a airbrush and paste unconnected images of his co-stars close by, with the result that one of the finest films of the year now looks like a 90s rom-com starring a twelve year old Colin Firth with Geoffrey Rush as the dubious and quirky uncle.

I loved the hell out of The King’s Speech when I saw it at the London Film Festival last month, it was one of the few films which has stayed with me and if this is your first time coming into contact with the film then please, please look beyond this woeful poster.

I’m half hoping this is piece of fan art but I’m not sure this is quite the film to have a slew of amateur artists clamouring to show off their skills. Either way it’s an intelligent, beautifully written film with some impeccable performances and is sure for awards aplenty – pay no attention to this poster.

Or this version – take your pick.

Moviefone had it first.
