From time to time here on HeyUGuys we are able to shine a spotlight on some truly incredible opportunities for filmmakers.

Today sees the launch of the Nespresso Talents 2016 Short Film contest. Continuing their commitment to championing new voices in the world of film, and in their ninth year as an Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival, they are offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Nespresso are looking for filmmakers to submit an extraordinary short film in the vertical format for the chance to win €6,000 and travel to Cannes for a screening of their film.

Take a look at this introductory video to get an idea of the possibilities.

#nespressoTalents

Vertical film offers new avenues for story-telling, giving your audience experiences they’ve never had before. You choose an idea that you are passionate to tell, and the way you do that celebrates, explores or breaks the boundaries of vertical.

Nespresso are looking for all types of films – live action, fiction, documentary, animation, multimedia, experimental – in all types of genres.

The vertical format medium gives you the chance to think differently about the way you bring your idea to life and the visual techniques that you use to tell your story.

Check out some amazing examples of vertical films.
