Mud-UK-Quad-PosterJeff Nichols’ Mud debuted at Cannes last spring to very positive early reviews, and will soon be arriving in our theatres this coming April.

The film had its North American debut at Sundance last month, and our own Ty Cooper was very impressed by what he saw – you can read his review here.

The first trailer debuted recently, giving us a great first full look at the film. And with just a few months to go before Mud arrives, Empire have debuted the new UK quad poster.

“Mud is an adventure about two boys, Ellis and his friend Neckbone, who find a man named Mud hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. Mud describes fantastic scenarios – he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper, who is waiting for him in town. Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow.”

Matthew McConaughey takes centre stage here, with his performance being noted in the reviews as one of his finest to date. And starring alongside him will be Reese Witherspoon, Tye Sheridan, Jacob Lofland, Sam Shepard, Michael Shannon, and Sarah Paulson.

Nichols is once more directing from his own script, making his follow-up to 2011’s extremely well-received Take Shelter.

Mud is set for release in the UK on 19th April, with a US release date set for 26th April. McConaughey has made an impressive comeback to prominence in recent years, and this is promising to be another brilliant performance from him. For now, here’s the new UK quad poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
