G.I. Joe: Retaliation is just over a month away from hitting the big screen, and all signs point to it being packed to the brim with some awesome action sequences and special effects.
Paramount have been gearing up to the blockbuster’s new March release date brilliantly, attaching an explosive new trailer to screenings of their Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. And following two new TV spots that we saw last week, the studio have released a new international trailer and TV spot, bringing plenty more action.
“A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.”
Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Lee Byung-hun reprise their roles from the first film, with Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Walton Goggins, and Jonathan Pryce completing the cast nicely.
Jon M. Chu is behind the camera this time around, directing from a script penned by the brilliant Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland).
G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be released in 3D on 27th March here in the UK, and has a US release date set for 29th March. For now, here’s the latest explosive footage to get your anticipation rising. Chu definitely knows how to shoot an action sequence, and this is very much shaping up to be an awesome ride.
