We’re due another trailer for James Mangold’s second Wolverine X-Men film this week. If it’s anything like the the amazing first teaser trailer we’re in for a treat. Logan is setting itself up to be a very different type of X-Men film. The ending of X-Men Apocalypse, apart from being something of a blessed relief, laid the breadcrumbs from which we can ascertain some of the plot for what Hugh Jackman is calling his last film as the iconic laconic superhero.

The casting of Richard E. Grant, and the subsequent image released online by the director, gave us the identity of the big bad in this new film. Grant will play Dr. Zander Rice, the man responsible for creating X-23 who will accompany Logan on his journey in true The Last of Us style. Dafne Keen is X-23, or Laura Kinney, and much of the existing promotion shows us the bond between Logan and his little friend.

Given the hoopla surounding this release, and the assumed mature direction Mangold and Jackman are excited about finally being able to show us, the director and star of Logan have been teasing us with snippets for the film. Jackman posted the first synopsis on his Twitter feed, which reads:

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border.

But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Which sounds exactly as expected. We knew that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X would be making an appearance thanks to this image released by Mangold. Mangold also released a number of images from the forthcoming film, including another shot of the ailing Prof, and the bearded Logan. He also gave us a preview of a stirring section of the score, written by Marco Beltrami. Check out the links below.

James Mangold’s Logan will be released in UK cinemas on the 2nd of March, and on the 3rd of March in the US. High hopes abound.
