Having been fortunate enough to speak to Bollywood megastar Deepika Padukone at the London premiere for xXx: Return of Xander Cage, we also had the pleasure of sitting down with the actress to discuss her role in the popular franchise in more depth.
Padukone, who plays Serena Unger, is making her Hollywood bow with this particular movie, despite having been linked to a number of roles in America in the past. Needless to say, we ask her exactly what it was about this role that appealed to her so greatly.
We also speak about the character and how she fits into this universe, and the freedom the actress had with the role, and implementing her own sensibilities onto the part. She also explains the joy in first reading the script, as a story that thrives in ambiguity, while telling us about her collaboration with the star of the movies, Vin Diesel himself. Finally, she talks about her move to Hollywood, the differences to making a film there rather than in Bollywood, and whether or not she can see herself making more movies in the States in the future.

After coming out of self-imposed exile, daredevil operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) must race against time to recover a sinister weapon known as Pandora’s Box, a device that controls every military satellite in the world. Recruiting a new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself entangled in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of government.
