As if we couldn’t be any more excited for Deadpool 2, those scamps over at Marvel and 20th Century Fox have unveiled the latest recruit to the film in the form of legendary rapper Ricky Baker.

For those unfamiliar with Ricky Baker and his work, we are talking about the hugely talented actor Julian Dennison, the breakout star of last year’s hilarious comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople, who has joined the cast of Deadpool 2, as announced by star Ryan Reynolds on his Instagram. The actor received rave reviews for his performance in the film alongside Sam Neill in the comedy directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok).

Dennison joins fellow new recruits Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable and Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, as well as new director David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde). No word yet on which character Dennison is playing, but given the “knowing” nature of the film, wouldn’t it be funny if he played Ricky Baker in the film?! We’d pay to see that!

Giving Julian Dennison a warm 💀💩L welcome as we stare off into our beautiful future together. #RickyBakerPool #NZ

On the film, producer Simon Kinberg, who is now busy preparing his directorial debut on X-Men: Dark Phoenix, says the film will comment on many of the modern superhero films and that the film will definitely “play around” with the the “proliferation of sequels”.

It’s set to be a big 2018 for 20th Century Fox and their Marvel properties with Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix and Josh Boone’s New Mutants are set for release next year.

Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Zazie Beetz, Jack Kesy, Leslie Uggams, Stefan Kapicic, Karan Soni and Josh Brolin star in the film, which opens on June 1st, 2018.
