‘BlackKklansman’ actor John David Washington has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next project at Warner Bros, while Robert Pattinson is expected to join any day now.
Even though the project is being kept top secret there is a major buzz around the production. There are no plot details available but the word on the street – and what you would pretty much expect from Nolan – is that the event movie is going to be “massive, innovative, action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax”.
According to Collider, Pattinson and Washington will play the two leads. There will also be an age-appropriate female lead, as well as an older male co-star.
Nolan has written the script for the project which Warner Bros have allocated a release slot of July 17, 2020. Nolan will also produce alongside Emma Thomas.
Production is expected to commence later this year.
The last time we saw Nolan was for ‘Dunkirk’, the wartime epic earned Nolan his first Oscar Nomination. The film stormed the worldwide box office with receipts of $526 million.
Washington made his big breakthrough in Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Ballers’, Since then he has gone on to take the lead in Spike Lee’s ‘BlackKklansman’ and also starred in ‘Men and Monsters’ and David Lowery’s ‘The Old Man & The Gun’ alongside Robert Redford.
Pattinson, like his Twilight co-star, has favoured the indie since the Vampire/Werewolf franchise came to an end. In order to shake the heartthrob image and from being pigeon-holed into certain roles he has chosen meatier films such as ‘Good Time’ and ‘High Life’.
