Rocket Raccoon

With less than a month to go until the release of Marvel and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the studio is now beginning its huge marketing push for the movie, with some great new material released.

A new minute long TV spot for Guardians of the Galaxy is set to The Runaways’ punk classic “Cherry Bomb” and features plenty of great new footage of each of the main characters, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel).

The featurette – titled “Definitive Anti-Hero” – looks at each member of the quirky team of heroes, revealing more about their personalities and motivation. It’s well worth checking out for the hilarious snippets of Rocket Raccoon, and it’s becoming more and more apparent that he will be a real scene stealer!

The character images (via CBM) come from a promotional campaign being run by Skype, and also below is a video from James Gunn inviting fans to dress up as their favourite Guardians of the Galaxy character in order to put their questions to the cast and crew of the movie on an upcoming call.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st in the US and July 31st in the UK.
