For a long time, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold have been rumoured for some sort of role on TV. The former was supposed to take Smallvillle’s slot when that came to an end, while the latter was at one point set to appear in his own SyFy series. Well, thanks to The Tracking Board, we now know why neither those nor the other small screen projects came to fruition.

Warner Bros. are reportedly planning on teaming the characters up in their own movie, in what’s described as a, “superhero buddy cop movie.” Comedy will apparently be the emphasis of this DC Extended Universe release, a sign perhaps that the studio has taken note of the success Marvel Studios found with Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy.

The site also reveals that Berlanti has story credits on the upcoming Green Lantern Corps and The Flash movies, and given his experience with small screen superheroes, these two are no doubt in safe hands. Looking at their comic book adventures, chances are that this currently undated adaptation will deal with time travel and a lot of crazy technology!

For those of you unfamiliar with these two, here’s a quick run down: Humiliated in his own time-period, the 25th century, Michael Jon Carter stole future technology and a security robot named Skeets and travelled back into the 20th century to become the greatest hero you’ve never heard of: Booster Gold! Ted Kord was the second person to become the Blue Beetle. Deprived of the scarab that empowered his predecessor, Ted was forced to rely on his superior athleticism, fighting prowess, and technological genius to combat crime.
