G.I.-Joe-Retaliation-IMAX-PosterJon M. Chu makes his action blockbuster debut this month with the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Following on from the success of the original 2010 action film, the director has taken the helm for the sequel, which promises to be even more of an adrenaline-fuelled ride than The Rise of Cobra.

We’ve got less than two weeks now before it hits on our screens, and Paramount have been brilliantly gearing up the film ahead of its release. And now they’ve debuted a new featurette, via Scannain, which takes us behind the scenes with Chu, himself, for his first action movie.

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Lee Byung-hun reprise their roles from the first film. And joining them are Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Walton Goggins, and Jonathan Pryce, making for an awesome cast.

Chu is directing from a script penned by the brilliant Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland), and I definitely like the sound of that team writing the script.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be hitting in 3D and IMAX 3D on 27th March here in the UK, with its US release date following a day later on 28th March. It looks like this should be a lot of fun. Here’s the new featurette to prove it. We’re expecting more to land shortly, so be sure to check back when they do.
