All those who thought the Tom Cruise/Elon Musk space movie was just fake news, movements have ramped up a gear with director Doug Liman jumping on board to direct.

Although it’s very early days, the film is expected to be an action-adventure. No studio is yet attached to the movie but that surely won’t be a problem depending on whether any insurance company are insane enough to cover it.

Liman has previously worked with Cruise on ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘American Made’. The pair had also been attached to Liman’s passion project ‘Lunar Park’. Paramount Pictures have not confirmed whether this is the same movie. ‘Lunar Park’ revolves around a group of renegade employees who venture to the moon to steal an energy source.

Days after it was announced, the Space project was confirmed in a tweet by NASA Administrator Joe Bridenstine;

“NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality”.

Liman’s upcoming films include ‘Chaos Walking’ starring Tom Holland Daisy Ridley and ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ starring Cruise and Emily Blunt.

Cruise will next be seen in the long-awaited sequel ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. His upcoming projects include ‘Mission: Impossible’ 7 and 8.
