Scares seem to run in the family for the Farmiga sisters. In fact, the whole The Conjuring saga including its spin-off, The Nun, is a family affair as Taissa Farmiga, sister of The Conjuring’s Vera, signs up to play the young nun in the 2018 production.

Mexican actor Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight, Machete Kills) will star alongside the American Horror Story and Coven star. The Corin Hardy-directed New Line thriller centres on the foreboding image of the nun from The Conjuring 2, starring series stalwarts Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. The image came to life from a painting by Patrick Wilson’s paranormal investigator Ed Warren and later attacked Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren. With the familial facial features Taissa shares with her sister we are thinking there may be some kind of link between the two characters, one that could prove to be truly frightening to the future of the Warren’s investigations – all speculation of course.

The Nun is the second spinoff from The Conjuring after Annabelle, which grossed a massive high of $256 million worldwide. In fact, that film and the two instalments of The Conjuring have scarily collected a global gross of $897 million, with Annabelle: Creation coming August 11.

James Wan and Peter Safran are producing The Nun, which is to be scripted by both Gary Dauberman and James Wan. Dauberman and Todd Williams are the executive producers. The film already has been dated for release Friday the 13th, in July 2018.

Considered one of the better horror sagas out there, delving into the investigations of the real-life paranormal investigators is proving to be a popular and lucrative venture for Wan and co and we for one hope they keep on making films for a genre that is lacking in any real scares.
