When Warner Bros. announced their DC Comics movie slate, solo movies for Batman and Superman movies were conspicuous by their absence. It was mentioned at the time that the studio had plans for both heroes, but release dates weren’t officially announced. A new rumour however may finally shed some light on those!

According to Latino-Review, the Caped Crusader’s solo outing will be titled The Batman and released in November 2018. That would put it on a collision course with Captain Marvel, revenge perhaps for Captain America: Civil War forcing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to alter its release date next year.

Here’s where things get really exciting though. The site adds that Chris Terrio will write the screenplay and Ben Affleck will direct (and obviously reprise the role of Batman). Terrio worked with Affleck on Argo and rewrote Batman v Superman when he was cast. He’s also been signed up to pen both Justice League movies.

2018 is looking like a very Marvel heavy year, so you can’t blame Warner Bros. for backing up Aquaman and The Flash with The Batman! This is strictly a rumour for now of course, but here’s hoping we hear something official at next month’s San Diego Comic-Con. It’s rumoured that the whole Justice League will be there…
