We’ve had all manner of posts about Christopher Nolan’s involvement in the Superman reboot and casting rumours for Batman 3 as well. Now comes news from Collider that Nolan (who was in Italy talking about Inception) is working on the screenplay at the moment, now that his brother Jonathan has finished the first draft.

Nolan’s exact words were:-

“I don’t like to talk too much about things until I’m further along with them.  But I’m working on the script right now.  My brother Jonah has done a draft for the script and now I’m writing on it.  We have set a release date and as far as the film being officially greenlit, they haven’t told they don’t want to do it. So I’m hopeful.”

It seems a little odd to have set a release date for a project with no green light, however this must surely be a technicality. The Dark Knight made over $1bn at the box office, was critically lauded the world over and landed awards by the boat load as well. A third film is such an exciting prospect, given the quality of Nolan’s work in general and on this franchise in particular and for most people (myself included), Batman 3 cannot come soon enough.

We’ve embedded footage of Nolan’s interviews below, which are mostly about Inception, but do cover Batman 3 as well.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
