The DC cinematic universe is due for a big year in 2017. It will see the release of arguably the most important DCU movies thus far with Wonder Woman on the 2nd of June and the Avengers-sized Justice League coming in November. With the divisive critical reaction to both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad last year Zack Snyder needs to have something special on the horizon.

James Wan’s Aquaman is due out next year, and we’ve already seen a snippet of the ocean-dwelling superhero in Batman v Superman. He’s also appeared in what little we’ve seen of Justice League so far. Jason Momoa has a Dwayne Johnson-esque charm that will surely endear him to a wide audience, and today we’ve got a look at how me will appear in the forthcoming films.

A brief glimpse of Momoa’s character has been unveiled as part of a VFX presentation, and we get to see a few seconds of the Atlantean gracefully gliding through the water. It’s a far cry from the Batman v Superman footage we’ve seen already, and if there’s one thing we know about Zack Snyder – the man knows his visual effects.

Aquaman’s cast includes Amber Heard (Mera) and Patrick Wilson (as the antagonist Ocean Master). It’ll be interesting to see how the character is used in the Justice League film, knowing that he’ll have his own movie out a few months later.
