Warner Bros. has announced today that the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released on December 15th, a preview which will give us a never-before-seen look at part of the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling. Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) stars in the role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies.

According to the first official synopsis for the movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

The cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove, and Colin Farrell, and it’s currently set to be released worldwide on November 18, 2016.

For now, we have only this announcement trailer tease to get us excited, but the trailer itself should be a great way to wrap up 2015 in what has been a busy month for first looks at 2016 movies. This week alone has featured previews for The BFG, The Legend of Tarzan, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, while the first X-Men: Apocalypse trailer arrives later today!
