3. Black Hawk Down
If movies like The Counsellor and Exodus: Gods and Kings have left you wondering what happened to the Ridley Scott of old, take solace in the fact that Black Hawk Down is a movie which never gets old.
Set during the Battle of Mogadishu, this is another movie which depicted a mission gone wrong, and the consequences of that result in the true horrors of war being put on full display for the viewer.
As a result, Black Hawk Down doesn’t make for an easy watch, but feels in many way like a necessary one, as it delves into just how terrifying close quarters combat is and doesn’t hold back when it comes to depicting the hard choices that brave soldiers are forced to make in battle.
From start to finish, it is a movie which simply never lets up.
