5. A Few Good Men
One of the oldest films on this list, A Few Good Men is essential viewing nonetheless. It may not feature edge of your seat action scenes, but Aaron Sorkin’s crisp dialogue (the movie was adapted by The Social Network scribe from his stage play) resulted in a very different kind of battle in the courtroom.
Focusing on two Marines charged with the murder of one of their colleagues, A Few Good Men featured terrific performances from the likes of Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson. It also delved into the mentality of what it means to be a Marine, and watching their devious game of accusations and smear campaigns kick off and develop ended up being just as tense as exciting as any of the gunfights featured in the movies listed here.
