4. The Riddler

Blind Spot

When you think of The Riddler, Jim Carrey’s over-the-top version from Batman Forever likely comes straight to mind, but there is in fact an awful lot more to the villain that those sorts of theatrics. Indeed, Edward Nygma is one of the only Batman villains to deduce that Bruce Wayne is Batman, and he would gleefully try to ruin his life in the critically acclaimed “Hush” storyline.

The Riddler is obsessed with riddles, puzzles and word games, and can’t resist telling the police about his schemes beforehand, giving them a chance to stop him by figuring out his complex riddles. “The New 52” has portrayed Nygma as initially being an employee of Wayne Industries before losing the plot plunging Gotham City into darkness, so the advantages of introducing such a complex and interesting villain to this series is undeniably fascinating.
