5. Mr Freeze
Like Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze is a villain who probably brings back nothing but bad memories thanks to his appearance in Batman & Robin. However, if nothing else, that movie did get his origin story right for the most part, but a more serious take on the small screen would be very welcome indeed.
Victor Fries’ fascination with the cold began when he was a boy and his mother fell through the ice of a frozen lake. The ice was able to keep her preserved long enough for help to arrive, thus sparking his lifelong obsession with the cold.
In his latest origin story, his “wife” is revealed to actually be someone he’s never met. Instead, she’s just a woman diagnosed with an incurable heart disease and placed in cryogenic stasis, who he becomes obsessed with while working at Wayne Industries. It’s when Batman confronts him about this that he gains his deformed appearance.
