6. Poison Ivy

Blind Spot

Poison Ivy was done no justice in the awful Batman & Robin, and as cheesy and ridiculous as that movie made her seem, there’s actually an awful lot more to Pamela Isley.

In the comics, she spent most of childhood in her garden as a result of a skin condition which meant she couldn’t leave home. Her father constantly beat her mother, finally murdering and burying her in that same garden. After landing an internship in Wayne Enterprises developing pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications, she was fired after asking Bruce Wayne to let her develop chemicals which trigger social or behavioral responses.

As she was escorted out by security, Pamela accidentally spilled the chemicals she was working with on herself, giving her powers to control plant life and immunity to all poisons and viruses. A story perfectly suited to the small screen, eh?
