Margot Robbie

Harry Potter director David Yates’ take on Tarzan may have been delayed as Warner Bros. took some time to figure out the budget, but things now seem to finally be moving along far more quickly for his modern take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs series of novels. Alexander Skarsgard is set to play Tarzan, while Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson were also added to the cast late last year.

Now, The Wrap has confirmed earlier reports that Australian actress Margot Robbie is in negotiations to play Jane. The former Neighbours actress got her first breakout role in the short-lived TV series Pan Am, before starring on the big screen in the likes of About Time and The Wolf of Wall Street.

The site adds that Robbie is also being lined up to replace Amanda Seyfried in Craig Zobel’s Z for Zachariah, a psychological thriller starring Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor which will see her play young woman who believes she’s the only survivor after a devastating nuclear event, before learning that she is not alone when two strangers wander onto her farm from the forest.

Tarzan starts production this summer and is expected to be released either in late 2015 or early 2016.
