Captain America

On Sunday night Marvel Studios surprised us all by releasing two new full-length trailers and a TV spot for Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Needless to say, the footage they contained was nothing short of epic, and anticipation for the sequel is without a doubt at an all-time high.

However, just like the first trailer (which was released last year), there are an awful lot of notable moments. Some will have been picked up by comic fans immediately, while others were easy to miss, but we break them all down here for you. There are of course some potential spoilers – especially as the movie is based on a pre-existing comic book arc – but nothing too huge.

You can catch up with our first breakdown by clicking here and if you still haven’t watched the trailers (seriously?), you can find those by clicking here.

10. The Winter Soldier Awakens

This trailer gives us our best look at The Winter Soldier yet, and it kicks off with him possibly waking up for the first time since Bucky fell from that train in Captain America: The First Avenger. However, we’re left with more questions than answers as a result. Who are the men who seem to have given Bucky a metal arm and kept him captive?

In Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting’s comic book arc of the same name, it’s the Russians who find his body in the closing days of World War II, but there’s nothing here to tell us whether or not that will be the case in this big screen adaptation. A far more likely possibility for the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be for his captives to be the same villainous organisation from the last movie; Hydra! Will the Red Skull also return?
