2. Riddle Me This
This was by far the best moment in An Unexpected Journey and the one which fans of the novel could not wait to see. Gollum looked better than ever, and Andy Serkis once again brought him to life in a truly amazing manner.
The lengthy scene was compelling from start to finish, and Jackson made Gollum’s brief appearance (in the grand scheme of the three movies) really count for something. In fact, this whole sequence makes Gollum’s time in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy even more rewarding to rewatch thanks to the backstory it provides as it deepens what we saw in those movies and sheds more light on how the events of both link up.
This was also Martin Freeman at his best, and makes for extremely satisfying viewing.
