While Marvel may be leading the way in terms of movies, DC Comics are making their presence felt on TV. Arrow has been a huge success, and it will be joined this Autumn by Gotham, The Flash and Constantine.

An interesting Easter Egg in Man of Steel led many fans to believe that Supergirl could make an appearance in a future instalment of that franchise, but a new report claims that the character is instead coming to the small screen. This wouldn’t be the first time for the character as she appeared a number of times in Superman TV series Smallville, played by Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort.

A solo series for Supergirl is apparently being actively pitched by DC Comics, and while there’s no word on which network it will air on, The CW would be a good choice as she could then share the same world as Green Arrow and The Flash (something you have to imagine being well-received by fans).

Michael Green, who has worked on a number of superhero themed projects as a writer and producer – including Heroes, Smallville and the Green Lantern movie – is also said to be attached to the project.

Green is no stranger to Supergirl either as he actually wrote her comic book series as part of DC’s “The New 52” relaunch back in 2011. Which other female superheroes deserve the live-action treatment? Be sure to click here to read out thoughts on that!
