To celebrate the anticipated release of Yuli: The Carlos Acosta Story this week, we have the pleasure of sitting down with the film’s star and it’s writer and director to chat about this fantastic new film.
The film, directed by Iciar Bollain (Take My Eyes) and written by Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake), debuted at last year’s San Sebastian Film Festival where it won Best Screenplay. YULI follows Acosta from his childhood in a run-down neighbourhood of Havana to breaking taboos and becoming the first black artist to dance as Romeo in the Royal Ballet in London, where he forged a legendary career as a principal dancer for 17 years.
