With the absence of Warner Bros. at Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic Con details of Patty Jenkins ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was assumed to be under lock and key until December. However, a few spoilerific plot details have emerged.

According to That Hashtag Show, new plot details may answer a few questions about the return of Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor and how Kristen Wiig’s character becomes Cheetah.

Diana Prince (Gadot) starts out the film acting as a spy during the Cold War and is hunting down a nefarious Russian spy. At the same time, Barbara Minerva (Wiig) idolises Wonder Woman and encounters Maxwell Lord (likely Pascal) – a man who can grant people’s wishes… at a price.

It’s through his unnatural powers that Steve Trevor is apparently able to return (as a potential vessel for Lord’s soul), and that Minerva becomes the hero she wants to be until the beast side of her new personality becomes unmanageable – pushing her to become Cheetah.

This time around Diana heads to the ’80s and now takes on a new foe in the form of The Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.

Patty Jenkins returns to take the helm after the Super Hero’s first outing saw it take a record-breaking $822 million at the worldwide box office. Gal Gadot also returns as the titular superhero.

Joining Gal Gadot on the cast list is Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal who could possibly be playing Max Lord, a razor-sharp and powerful businessman who was a thorn in the side of the Justice League.  Chris Pine also returns from the dead as Steve Trevor. Robin Wright is also expected to appear in a flashback scene with co-star Connie Nielson as Diana’s mother Queen Hippolyta.

The film is slated to be released June 5th 2020
