Tammy-Teaser-Poster-sliceMaking his debut as a director, Ben Falcone will soon be making his presence felt with this summer’s female-led R-rated comedy, Tammy.

It will follow on from the likes of Neighbors (‘Bad Neighbours’ here in the UK), A Million Ways to Die in the West, and Walk of Shame, and with Melissa McCarthy leading the cast, it looks set to be a hit.

Warner Bros. launched the first teaser trailer a few months back, and with its July release date fast approaching, the studio has released the second trailer.

Tammy (McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house.

It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

Susan Sarandon takes the joint female lead as McCarthy’s on-screen grandmother, with Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Sandra Oh, Kathy Bates, Dan Aykroyd, Nat Faxon, Gary Cole, Falcone himself, and Mark Duplass completing the ensemble.

Falcone makes his feature debut as both writer and director here, co-writing the script with McCarthy.

Tammy will be released in the US on July 2nd, ahead of its 4th July UK slot.
