To celebrate the eagerly-anticipated release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which opens in UK cinemas this weekend, we had the pleasure of chatting to the cast and director to find out about “levelling up” with the sequel.

The world’s favourite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Chatting to James Marsden (Tom), Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Tika Sumpter (Maddie), Natasha Rothwell (Rachel), Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Tails), and returning director Jeff Fowler, we asked them about the unique pressures of making a sequel, trying to top the predecessor without undoing the good work of the first, why the first film was such a huge success, weddings, rings and, of course, working with and being around the manic genius of Jim Carrey, who returns as Dr. Robotnik.

Also, we noticed very sneaking hints to a few films starring a certain Tom Cruise – are they subtly trying to get the megastar for the already a-go third installment???

And, if that wasn’t enough, we spoke to SONIC, TAILS and KNUCKLES as well. Yep, the real ones – scroll down to find out what they had to say…
