It’s always interesting to see earlier iterations of characters but Weaver’s Ripley appears to have arrived fully formed, with perhaps a little touch of the Ripley of future Alien films visible under the ever so slightly vulnerable persona Weaver and Scott created for the first film.
It’s hard now to imagine that the character of Ripley was originally written for a man and seeing Weaver’s performance, even here in this screen test, shows why the move was a masterstroke by David Giler and Walter Hill.
Can’t wait for the Blus for Alien, this is one small example of why they are a must buy.
