Gotham has a great cast of actors and characters, but now another new addition has been made to the series which follows a young Detective Jim Gordon years before Bruce Wayne dons the cape and cowl as Batman.

During an appearance at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo this past weekend, Gotham executive producer Danny Cannon revealed that a very familiar villain from the Batman universe will soon arrive in the series.

He revealed that we’ll soon be introduced to the Scarecrow, a character play by Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. This version will be a child however, likely around the same age as Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Disappointed? Well, there’s no need to be as we’ll still get to see Scarecrow!

“We’re breaking the story now,” Cannon told those who attended the panel. “The villain will be seen as a child, before he takes on the Scarecrow moniker. In fact, it’s something that will be passed on to him from his father, which will create an eventual enemy for Batman while still having an adversary for Jim Gordon.”

That’s an interesting direction to take this version of the character in, and with recent comic books revealing that Scarecrow’s father abused him as a child to test his theories about fear, it would make sense for him to be portrayed as the original Scarecrow before his son inherits the mantle years later to fight Batman.

Ratings have been great for Gotham so far, and reviews have also been extremely positive for the most part.
