From the moment she bursts onto the screen, she’s on the run. Whether Lucky, the woman at the centre of Apple TV’s new crime thriller, lives up to her name remains to be seen, but finding out will be full of twists and turns over the show’s seven episodes.
With Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role and Annette Benning and Timothy Olyphant in pivotal roles, Lucky follows a resourceful con artist as she’s pursued by the FBI and a ruthless crime boss after a multi-million-dollar heist goes horribly wrong. Living on her wits to stay alive becomes a daily challenge and, despite the occasional phone call from her slippery father, she’s very much on her own.
In the exclusive interviews below we sat down with Taylor-Joy, Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant and co-showrunners Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas about this propulsive drama where women are very much in the driving seat. Taylor-Joy describes how her character is “in hot water the whole time”, which made it an exhausting role to play while Bening, who has only recently made the move to the small screen, reflects on entering a “new phase of my career and my life” and how much she enjoys the “adventure of diving into different roles”. And, while Taylor-Joy may be playing a character called Lucky, aside from that she considers herself to be more than a little superstitious, something thing she attributes to her Spanish heritage.

Lucky launches on Apple TV on 15th July.
