After seeing a batch of new images surface this week, the first trailer has premiered over on Yahoo Movies, showcasing Arnold Schwarzenegger in arguably his most promising role since returning to the industry. And given the language at the beginning, and even some of the action and blood littered throughout, this trailer might not be red-band, but it’s still not really suitable for work.
An elite DEA task force deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.
The film, previously titled Breacher and then Ten, sees Ayer return behind the camera following last year’s critically acclaimed End of Watch, a crime-thriller led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña.
Needless to say, the director has assembled another great cast for his follow-up, with Schwarzenegger starring alongside Joe Manganiello, Mireille Enos, Olivia Williams, Sam Worthington, Max Martini, Terrence Howard, and Josh Holloway.
Ayer is directing from a script penned by Skip Woods (Hitman, A Good Day to Die Hard), with the latter also producing alongside Joe Roth (Snow White and the Huntsman, Oz the Great and Powerful).
Sabotage will be released in the US on April 11th, 2014, and its UK release date is set for later that month on 25th April. In the meantime, here’s the first trailer to tease the action soon to be coming our way. Ayer and Schwarzenegger have promised the film will be brutal, and let’s hope that it lives up to expectations.
