We reported back in July that the Marvel adaptation Runaways was scheduled to start shooting early next year. After news yesterday from Deadline that the film has been pushed back to an unspecified date, Bleeding Cool has now confirmed that the production is due to begin for following year now, in 2012.

Co-created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, the comic focuses on a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are part of an evil crime organisation. Using their own powers, the kids strive to defeat the adults and vow to bring other villains to justice.

That’s a long wait for fans of the series, although it appears that director Peter Sollett (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist) is still on board, as according to Deadline, he has been invited to take another film in the interim.
