I got to talk to Jerry Bruckheimer a couple of weeks ago who told me that they’re going to start filming the fourth movie in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and that it will see Johnny Depp returning alside new caat members including Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. What he didn’t mention was that the movie is going to be in 3d.

Variety have reported today that ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ will be shot in Disney 3d rather than a conversion post production.

I’m not sure what I think of this. Does the movie need to be done in 3d? Will it really give us, the audience a better experience? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

  • Already sick of 3D and it's extra cost at the theaters. I'm skipping anything with the new fangled version of 3D now. Coraline did it first, and frankly, best. It's OK for the occasional movie to be in 3D — it then becomes a “special” experience but once you do it to every movie, without questioning whether it will enhance the experience or not, it then just becomes boring.

I saw Dead Man's Chest 5 times in the cinema and At World's End 3 times. There's no way I'll be able to afford to do that again if it's in 3d. Boo!
