The-Great-Gatsby-–-Elizabeth-Debicki-Character-PosterThe Great Gatsby is due to set the box office alight in Summer 2013, with Baz Luhrmann’s highly anticipated blockbuster adaptation pushed back from this December to next May with an eye for the summer season and market.

The film has long been one of our most anticipated films of the year, and that anticipation has only been raised with the delay.

The first trailer that landed back in May was absolutely amazing, and with less than half a year to go before it arrives, Warner Bros. have been ramping up their campaign over the past twenty-four hours. Last night, we were treated to two beautiful new character posters for Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton, and tonight we’ve got another excellent new poster for Luhrmann’s new discovery, Elizabeth Debicki.

“From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. “The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.”

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan star as the leading trio, and joining them will be Edgerton, Fisher, Jason Clarke, Debicki, and Amitabh Bachchan, making one of the finest casts of next year.

Luhrmann is once more directing from a script he co-wrote with past collaborator Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet), adapting the seminal novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The Great Gatsby will be released in 3D on 10th May, 2013 in the US, with its UK release date set for a week later on 17th May. This is all but guaranteed to be one of the best films of 2013. For now, here’s the latest character poster for Debicki’s Jordan Baker, which you can click through to enlarge.
