Nebraska-UK-Quad-PosterWinning Bruce Dern the Best Actor award at Cannes, and continuing on the festival circuit with a strong eye on the Oscars, Alexander Payne’s Nebraska had its UK premiere at the end of last week at the BFI London Film Festival.

The black and white road-trip drama sees Dern star opposite Will Forte as a father-and-son duo. And in tandem with the film’s UK debut, Paramount has launched the UK quad poster, which adds a splash of colour with the critics’ reviews to the original shot of Dern.

After receiving a sweepstakes letter in the mail, a cantankerous father (Bruce Dern) thinks he’s struck it rich, and wrangles his son (Will Forte) into taking a road trip to claim the fortune. Shot in black and white across four states, Nebraska tells the stories of family life in the heartland of America.

June Squibb, Bob Odenkirk, and Stacy Keach join Dern and Forte for the ride, with Bob Nelson making his feature debut as a writer.

Payne of course took home an Oscar alongside co-writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash at the start of last year for The Descendants, and it’s going to be very interesting to see if he gets another nomination here for Best Director. It’s a very competitive year, and with a question mark over Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, and Sony pushing Bennett Miller’s anticipated Foxcatcher out of the qualifying release date, pretty much all bets are off.

Nebraska will be released in the US on November 22nd, and will follow shortly after on our shores with its UK release date set for 6th December.
